How long does a ceremony last?

Each couple's requirements are different, but on average a ceremony can last between 30 and 40 minutes.   (Note: if planning a Funeral or Celebration of life in a crematorium, each crematorium will have its own allocated time slots, which we must adhere to.)

Can you perform the legal aspect of our marriage?

Absolutely! We have a network of Registered Solemnisers who are authorised to conduct legal marriage ceremonies in the Republic of Ireland, any day of the week—including weekends and bank holidays.

How do we Register our Intent to Marry with the HSE (Health Service Executive)?

All couples who wish to have a legal wedding within the Republic of Ireland must make an appointment with the HSE to register their Intent to Marry.  This must be no less than three months prior to the intended wedding date.  We encourage couples to start the HSE process about 09 to 12 months in advance of their proposed wedding date.

At your scheduled HSE meeting, you will be asked for the names and details of both spouses, and both witnesses (all must be over 18 years).  You will also be asked, the the date of your ceremony, the location of your ceremony, and the name of your nominated Solemniser.  When you make your appointment the HSE will send you either via e-mail or post a list of things to bring with you for your appointment, these may include IDs, birth certificates, proof of address, and any other relevant information required.

If the HSE are satisfied with your information and documentation you may be issued your Marriage Registration Form (MRF) in a green folder.  Your Solemniser will request the MRF in advance of the ceremony in order to check and confirm all the details are correct.

During the ceremony, the MRF will be signed by your Solemniser, both spouses and both witnesses.  After the ceremony, it is your responsibility to return the MRF to the HSE Registrar’s office within 30 days of your ceremony.

What category is Eternal Threads Ireland under for the HSE notification of intent to marry? Religious, Secular, or Civil?
Eternal Threads Ireland is a non-denominational organization listed on the HSE Register of Solemnisers as a Religious Body, not Secular or Civil.  This classification allows you to include religious elements into your ceremony should you wish to do so.
